Dr.-Ing. Peter M. Lenhart

Peter, born 1967 in Jugenheim, Germany holds a M.Sc. in aerospace engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) from RWTH Aachen and a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering (Dr.-Ing.) from TU Darmstadt. His Ph.D. thesis was about ‘Spatial Depiction of Flight Guidance Information in Head-Mounted Displays’. He is an associate professor at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and head of Human Factors Engineering at the ZHAW Centre for Aviation.

Peter started his professional career in 1995 as a Systems Engineer for Helicopter Simulation and Training-Systems with ESG GmbH, München. In 1997 he joined the Institute of Flight Systems at Darmstadt University of Technology. Acting as project coordinator and flight test engineer for several flight test campaigns on Synthetic Vision Systems, he was promoted team leader of the Synthetic Vision Systems Group in 1998.

From 2003 to 2005 Peter held the position of a Director Business Development and Qualification with Elite Simulation Solutions AG, Switzerland. In this role he coordinated Elite’s business development activities in close collaboration with Engineering and Marketing. In parallel, he built up and and supervised Elite’s qualification team, which delivered the necessary customer support for flight simulator qualification and certification.

Peter founded AVIGATE in 2006. As the Managing Director, his ambition is to establish a consulting service driven by professional experience: "Only by the combination of engineering, human factors and hands-on flying expertise, it is possible to deliver sustainable solutions which reflect the specific nature of aviation."

Peter is an active private pilot since 1988 and enjoys flying gliders and airplanes in his spare time.
